Tom Payne

Posted by Seacourt Tennis Club at Apr 4, 2013 6:26AM PDT

Tom Payne has decided to pursue a new career in London as a men’s barber and has worked his last day for Seacourt after 6 years of tennis coaching.

I would like to thank Tom for all his hard work and support in building up tennis at Seacourt.

Tom was an excellent coach and his friendly face will be sorely missed around the club.

Best of luck in the future.

Pete Tambling wins the Easter Mug against
Simon Flynn in a thrilling final. 8-2.

Eddie Ault, Simon Flynn, Nick Jones, Graham Law, Emily Cole, Pete Tambling, Lewis Davies and Steve Mullins qualified from their group games in to the knock-out phase.

After some exciting quarter final matches 4 remained to contest the semi final.

First up was Nick Jones and Simon Flynn. After nearly an hour (Flynngo court hogging again) with 8 games going to 40 all, Simon took the match 6-4.

Pete Tambling then took on Lewis Davies. Pete, returning from a 9 month absence due to injury (reportedly a badly sprained wrist) took a commanding lead and at 5-2 it should have been all over. Lewis dug deep levelling the match, only to lose the 11th game and the match 6-5.

After a short delay to allow Dan to find the trophies, Pete opened the serving in the final. Pete stormed in to a 4-0 lead and seemed unstoppable. Flynngo won the next game, then lost the next 2. If you didn’t know better, you would never have thought Pete had been away from the game, taking only three more games to take the match 8-2.

Congratulations to Pete and welcome back to Real Tennis

The big Easter Egg competition has hard fought for last night by the Seacourt squash faithful.

Aaron Flipence beat Joe Sexton in the semi final to play Rhys Glide who just managed to beat Rob Windebank. Rhys put up a huge fight to win the coveted chocolate but the handicap was too big and Aaron was too sharp and won 21-11.

Alistair Lockyear beat Scott Duncan to win the backdraw and Alex Kinsella and Dan Wallage won the doubles against Adam Jones and Alistair Lockyear 21-16.
