9 pairs battled it out in the Bedford Cup Fun Doubles this weekend.
After the round robin stages of the competition the semi-final line ups were Julia Baker & Tom Davidson to take on Tracy Thomas & Ian Marks and Viv Fowler & Ian Collier verses Linda Medlow & Pete Robertson.

Julia & Tom proved too strong for Tracy & Ian and took the match 6/2 to take their place in the final. In the second semi Linda & Pete took a strong 5/1 lead, but Viv & Ian battled back and got to 4/5 but Linda & Pete just edged it to take their place against Julia & Tom.
In the final Tom & Julia couldn’t quite find the form they had earlier on in the day that got them to the final, and Linda & Pete kept up their solid play to win the title 6/2

Two of Seacourt rising squash stars went toe to toe to challenge for the Under 18’s title.

Both players have advanced physically and mentally as squash players and you could see the maturity in their match play in the final.

No strangers to each others game this was always going to be a tough match. Alex started the match well with attacking shots down the line to pressurise Karl and take the lead. karl fought back into the match but Alex was too strong on the night and went onto win the title.

Alex was also awarded the Endeavour cup which is awarded to a member of Seacourt who shows outstanding promise on and off the court and was voted for by the Seacourt members.

Rhys Glide took on Luke Danby in an epic encounter for the much coveted title of “Squash Champion of Seacourt Tennis Club”.

Rhys is at the top of his game and was firm favourite but Luke is never to be underestimated at the best of times and this was certainly one of them.

Rhys started the match confidently and controlled the game with his fitness and racket skills but Luke dug deep and mixed up the game with sheer aggression and sublime touch shots to get into the match.

Rhys would take the lead but then Luke would counter punch and level the game. This went on until the vital fifth match! Impossible to call who was going to win the vital game and it was level pegging all the way to 5/5 where Rhys found his range and nicks to go 8/5 match point up, only for Luke to save 4 match points before Rhys could close Luke out to win the championship and retain his crown.
